Participation Requirements
A welcome coffee is scheduled in June and an orientation takes place in late August for MVPNS members. During the school year, you are required to participate in the classroom one day per week. Members are encouraged to arrange carpools and childcare exchanges.

MVPNS is part of Mountain View-Los Altos Adult Education, therefore, attendance at two monthly parent education meetings is required. One meeting is in the evening with a speaker. The other meeting is scheduled during your child’s regular class day.

Each member is also asked to serve on a committee or take on a leadership role through our MVPNS Board. Some examples of committees you could serve on would include fundraising, curriculum support, membership, housekeeping, and finance. A complete list of jobs and job descriptions are provided in acceptance packets.

Additionally, in order to keep the equipment and facility safe and attractive, each family is responsible for six hours of maintenance work per year. Families also participate in fundraising events.

Medical Requirements
Members receive a packet of medical forms required for participation in the program. Also, it is necessary for all participating parents/adults to obtain a tuberculosis clearance from a doctor or the Santa Clara Health Department. Mandatory medical forms must be received before parents and children will be allowed to attend.

Does all this sound like too much?
MVPNS families say it was well worth their commitment…Parents and children have the pleasure of learning and playing side by side. Families build a strong community of friends that can last a lifetime. Teachers provide invaluable insights into parenting and child development.
